3D Printing
3D printing is available to all patrons. The Kalkaska County Library’s 3D printer is a Lulzbot Mini,
with a print area of 152mm x 152mm x 158mm (6” x 6” x 6.2”) and a print volume of 3,650cm3 (223in3).
Patrons may request a 3D print by email at info@kalkaskalibrary.org.
Accepted file types are .stl and .obj. The fee for a 3D print is 20¢/gram of material.
The library also offers free 3D printing classes by request. If you are interested in attending a 3D printing class,
please email us at info@kalkaskalibrary.org. Once we have a group, a class will be scheduled.
For those interested in learning how to model in an online environment, the following free 3D Modeling programs are available:
- Makers Empire (Created for ages 5 to 8)
- Tinkercad (Best for ages 12 and up)
- Sketchup Free (3D modeling software for teens and adults)
- 3DC Education (Kid friendly)
- Blender (Best for teens and adults)
- OpenSCAD (3D modeling software for teens and adults)
